Know Your Patient Rights (KYPR)
As a patient, you have a set of rights your doctors and physical therapists must abide by. Knowing your rights gives you the power to choose the best care for you.
What are your rights as a patient?
As a physical therapy patient, you have specific rights. Any physical therapist you visit - whether it's through Achieve or another provider - should be both mindful and respectful of your rights as a patient.
Right to Respectful & Professional Care
As a patient, you have the right to respectful, considerate care of you and your pain by a competent professional during your physical therapy treatment.
Right to Privacy
As a patient, you have the right to privacy in all aspects concerning your medical care. Your specific case, anything discussed in your consultation, examination, or treatment plan is absolutely confidential and should be handled with sensitivity.
Right to Confidential Communication
As a patient, you have the right to expect that all communication between you and your physical therapist is confidential and handled discretely, with sensitivity to your patient-PT relationship.
Right to Full Transparency
As a patient, you have the right to full information about your diagnosis, treatment, and expected outcome of your treatment plan. This includes information about further treatments or alternative plans, if applicable.
Right to Non-Discrimination
As a patient, you have a right to full physical therapy services without discrimination based on rase, color, religion, sex, sexual preference, or national origin.
Right to Your Information
As a patient, you have a right to the information, including all written records inside your patient file, regarding your treatment and medical records.
